ReplyDeleteThe clip posted above called “Guess” is a comedic sketch posted by Chess Club Comedy. This is a parody on the average woman who asks “Guess whats different about me?” This sketch extends this average moment that many of us have experienced and takes it onto an unrealistic level. By the end the two characters are screaming and fighting until the scene takes a sharp turn when she announces that she is pregnant. This sharp juxtaposition from the rhythm established in this scene is the climax because she finally says ‘yes’ to one of his guesses after a long stream of no. This sketch is successful because it relates to audiences while taking the situation it to a ridiculous level. It also includes slapstick comedy, which many people enjoy.
ReplyDeleteThis type of entertainment is rising in popularity right now because it is short enough for this generation’s attention span and easy to share with friends. We are living in the time of viral videos. Videos that are short, relatable, and comedic get shared all over social media. Videos like this one are even more successful because it features a “celebrity.” It is difficult to make a video go viral, but it is not difficult to look at viral videos and determine what makes them appreciated by a broad audience.
